Comparing Doctors to Gun Owners

Comparing doctors to gun owners

According to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, the number of physicians in the United States is 700,000. Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000. Thus there are 0.171 accidental deaths annually per physician.

The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 65,000,000. The number of accidental gun deaths per year for all age groups is 850. Thus there are 0.000013 accidental deaths per gun owner annually.
Statistically, doctors are approximately 13,000 times more dangerous than gun owners, and if you take the number of accidental deaths in American hospitals to be 300,000 per year (rather than then doctors are approximately 33,000 times more likely to accidentally kill you than a gun owner is. Not everyone has a gun, but everyone has at least one doctor.

What are your chances of being intentionally killed by a gun owner, versus being intentionally killed by a doctor? Seven hundred thousand doctors commit 1.5 million abortions per year. That averages two abortions per doctor per year. Sixty-five million gun owners commit 11,000 murders per year, which amounts to .00017 homicides per gun owner. That means you are 11,000 times more likely to be intentionally killed by a doctor than by a gun owner.

The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that's good.
