San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom acknowledges that simply sponsoring a once-a-year “Family Appreciation Day” will not stop the flow of families that are leaving The City."



Fewer said San Francisco’s overall cost of living also contributed to family flight, adding that a recent report showed a family of four needs at least $56,000 annually to survive in The City — $27 an hour for a single breadwinner.
